What is our process?

At AMES Australia we are frequently advertising new positons. All available positions are listed on our Current Vacancies page. All applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application.

Ames Process

Our Recruitment and Selection process involves the following:

Assessing Requirements

  • Position Description and business requirements are reviewed
  • Approval to recruit process completed
  • Candidates review their resumes and ensure it includes all experience, qualifications, skills and knowledge
  • Candidates consider their career pathways and review opportunities

Advertising

  • Job Advertisements are created based on position and business requirements
  • Advertisements are usually for 2 weeks duration, but closing dates will be listed
  • Advertised on AMES Australia Careers page
  • Advertised to external Job Boards such as Seek, LinkedIn, Ethical Jobs, Indigenous Employment Australia (based on business needs)
  • Candidates prepare a cover letter based on the job advertisement and key selection criteria, and apply for the position

Screening

  • Review of applications and shortlisting applicants for interview based on fit to position requirements
  • Notification to all unsuccessful applicants of outcome (via email)
  • Invitation to progress for all successful applicants (via email or phone call)
  • Merit-based process involving one or more of the following: interview; written assessment; practical assessment
  • Psychometric assessments and other testing (if required)

Selecting & Checking

  • Social Media screening (if applicable)
  • Reference Checks
  • Pre-employment checks: proof of working entitlement for Australia; current police check; Working with Children Check; qualifications check; licence check; teacher registration check

Offering & Hiring

  • Feedback to all shortlisted candidates who attended an interview or assessment
  • Verbal Offer (confirming start date, location, salary and employment terms)

Onboarding

  • Formal Offer (contract and new starter paperwork provided and completed)
  • Induction to AMES Australia (online starts prior to commencement; face to face starts after commencement)
  • Training for new position provided (based on individual’s needs)
