It is with some sadness that AMES Australia is announcing that our much loved and respected Chief Executive Officer Cath Scarth will be retiring from her role later this year.
Cath has been with AMES since 2008 and has been CEO since 2011.
Over that time, she has steered the organisation through some successful periods of innovation and achievement and also through difficult times. She has cemented AMES’ reputation as a leading settlement agency and source of knowledge and expertise.
During some of the most challenging and dramatic times we have faced, Cath has led from the front.
When thousands of Afghan evacuees arrived in Melbourne during the height of the COVID lockdowns in 2021, Cath was on the ground sourcing and helping to distribute food and essential items for the new arrivals.
She was also instrumental in forging key relationships with the local Ukrainian and Palestinian communities when we saw influxes of people fleeing those conflicts.
Cath’s leadership, values and approachability has been instrumental in shaping AMES as an inclusive, caring and effective organisation that prioritises the interests of the families and communities we support.
I’m sure everyone will join us in wishing Cath all the best in her future endeavours.
