This material has been designed to facilitate the development of the competencies required for people working, or intending to work, with young people from refugee backgrounds. It aims to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to address the specific needs of this client group and to develop constructive attitudes. The unit is based on the idea that working with young people from refugee backgrounds requires knowledge, skills and attitudes additional to, and distinct from, those required to work with other young people or other newly arrived groups.

This resource is available free of charge to Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and agencies wanting to enhance the skills of their staff.

• a Participant's Handbook
